In the pursuit of looking and feeling amazing on your big day you should carefully consider your pre-wedding skincare routine. Although many brides and grooms prioritise facials and other beauty treatments for picture-perfect skin, lots of people can s overlook their bodycare.

For those blessed with a beautiful complexion and skin tone, bodycare may never need to be a consideration. However, we can all benefit from nourished and hydrated skin and enjoy the results of radiant and supple arms, backs, and pins. We’ve compiled a list of some of the most common concerns and conditions you may have looming over your big day and how you can help eliminate them.

Bumpy Skin

Many people with bumpy skin typically on their arms and legs do not realise this annoying and sometimes itchy issue is called Keratosis pilaris. Keratosis pilaris is actually a very common and harmless condition where small bumps appear on your skin. The rough and sometimes dry skin can last for years but in some cases can clear up on its own. If your big day is on the horizon and you are self-conscious about these little red bumps there are a few ways to help clear them up with a consistent body care routine.

One great way to tackle rough or dry skins can be with gentle and excellent acid exfoliants. If you’ve never used an exfoliating acid there are two categories, these are alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids. Typically the right acid can work wonders when applied sparingly and correctly to our facial routines. Some acids also work wonders on cracked heels and other rougher parts of the skin. Before investing in or using an acid do remember over the counter formulations can be rather potent and beautiful results vary for each person’s skin type. You do not want to experience any of the effects of over exfoliation or a damaged barrier and as such we recommend you read our beloved Caroline Hirons beginners guide here.

With all this being said, a lotion which includes chemical exfoliants can be your best friend when treating your bumpy skin, we absolutely love Ameloirate’s range of body care and particularly worship their lotion for transforming dull and rough skin. With lactic acid, this formula helps to buff away dead skin and break down follicle blocking cells. One application of this lotion left us with glowing and supple skin on our legs and made a perfect smooth base for false tan. Ps. DO NOT use this lotion immediately after shaving your legs unless you enjoy the sensation of multiple nettle stings.

Pampered Feet

Most brides tend to treat themselves to a manicure and pedicure before their wedding, however, even a full treatment could benefit from some preparation. Investing in some indulgent products for your feet in the months leading up to the wedding should be part of your downtime. Women of all ages have some insecurity about tough heel skin and a pumice stone tends to be the most original approach to scrub away dry and cracked skin. A more recent product in the form of peeling foot masks can help the skin shed multiple layers during one use. Our personal favourite pamper treat is to use a combination of an exfoliating acid such as the Oridnary’s glycolic and soothe the skin with moisturising socks.
